5. Get more people to the game

The Hawks ranked last in total and average attendance for NBA games last year. They had let their two big stars, Al Horford and Paul Millsap leave and didn’t have a marquee player to push to the fans last season.

John Collins was the team’s top rookie for Atlanta last year, but he wasn’t a high-profile pick or from a high-profile school. Dennis Schroder was the team’s biggest star last year, but even that didn’t bring in a lot of the casual fans to the Phillips Arena.

That should all change this year though. Schlenk may not be liked for his trading of Euro League star Luka Doncic, but Trae Young is a sharpshooter that can fly from one end of the court to the other in a flash and sink 3-pointers all night. On top of that, the Hawks brought in point guard Jeremy Lin. Although he only played in one game last season due to a knee injury and just 36 games the year before, he still has the Linsanity following wherever he goes.

Lastly, the Hawks signed Vince Carter to the team to provide depth on the wings and, more importantly, be a mentor to all the young players on the team. It’s been a couple of years since the team has had some big, exciting names to put on the court and now they have three. This should help the Hawks not finish last in at least one category this year.
