Cleveland Cavaliers: Best candidates for 2018-19 NBA awards
Sixth Man of the Year: Jordan Clarkson
Jordan Clarkson was a part of the big shake-up the Cleveland Cavaliers engineered at the 2018 NBA trade deadline. He and Larry Nance Jr. would move to Cleveland, with Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye going the opposite direction.
For the remaining 28 games of the regular season, Clarkson never started a game. He was a solid sixth man for the team, providing the team with some much-needed scoring off the bench — something that the Cleveland Cavaliers so desperately needed.
Clarkson averaged 12.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 22.6 minutes per game. His percentages were the most impressive, skyrocketing from what he previously put up, shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from outside the arc. Both these numbers were his career highs.
Even though no rotation has been announced for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Clarkson is expected to come off the bench once again. Set to see an increase in his minutes as well as his shots, Clarkson could be a real threat to other players aiming for this award.
