1. Serge Ibaka

Don’t act like this is any bit surprising. The Raptors are intent on clearing cap space and cutting into that massive luxury tax bill of theirs. Parting ways with Serge Ibaka and the $45 million he’s owed over the next two years would certainly help in that regard.

The problem is it’s going to cost the Raptors a pretty penny to move Ibaka. They already parted with their 2019 first round pick in the Kawhi deal, which leaves them with only so many assets to entice a potential trade partner. Throwing in players like Powell or Miles isn’t going to get it done.

And yet, Ibaka still belongs atop this list. Bleacher Report‘s Steve Silverman even suggested he’d be one of the club’s most likely trade candidates this season.

Every Raptors trade rumor that’s bound to pop up in the coming months will likely have Ibaka’s name attached to it. It’s no secret the team has tried to deal him in the past, and will certainly maintain those efforts in 2018-19. Especially if he plays fewer minutes while OG Anunoby starts logging time as a small-ball power forward, Toronto will be desperate to send him packing.

Can the Raptors find takers? It’s possible, but it might require some painful losses on their end. However, if getting rid of his contract is the biggest issue, Ujuri will find a way to make it work.

Either way, don’t be surprised if Ibaka is wearing a different jersey by Feb. 7.
