Portland Trail Blazers: 3 goals for Seth Curry in 2018-19

2. Shoot 40 percent from the 3-point line
One of the biggest priorities going into this offseason for the Blazers was to add more 3-point shooters to the roster. They lacked shooters coming off the bench and needed more reliable ones playing next to Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.
Curry helps fill that role. For his career, he is shooting 43.2 percent from 3-point range.
Too many times last season, defenses would not worry about Al-Farouq Aminu, Maurice Harkless, Pat Connaughton or Meyers Leonard behind the 3-point line because they were not great shooters. Teams would play off them and allow them to shoot it because that would mean either Lillard, McCollum or Jusuf Nurkic had to get the ball out of their hands.
Having Curry on the floor would make the defense have to pay attention to him at all times, and he would hurt them if they left him open.
He is an elite shooter coming off the Blazers’ bench and could be a valuable weapon for them his season. Curry should look to shoot 40 percent or better this season from beyond the 3-point line. He will see plenty of open looks playing alongside Lillard or McCollum in the backcourt and when Nurkic demands double-teams down low. He has a fantastic looking jump shot with a quick trigger and will make the defense pay in catch-and-shoot situations.
Curry can handle the ball, create his own shot and pull up from almost anywhere on the court. He is also fantastic playing off the ball, using his quickness to get open either coming off screens or just losing his man. This is probably the best and most talented team Curry has been on, and he should thrive playing in this Portland offense. Being one of the top shooters in the entire league this season for Curry should not be too farfetched.
