3. Kyrie Irving

In a normal world, the chances Chicago would have of convincing Kyrie Irving to leave a storied franchise in the midst of another heyday would seem remote. However, we’ve recognized that the NBA doesn’t operate within the realm of reality. The league is its own reality show broadcast to fans worldwide via NBA Twitter. On the surface it would seem impossible for the Bulls to land such a talent. Why would Kyrie leave Boston for Chicago?

For starters, Kyrie hasn’t publicly committed to the Celtics as of yet. This isn’t very surprising considering his impending free agency. Most players in Irving’s situation like to let the season play out before announcing any plans.  Most around the league are connecting Irving to the Big Apple, since he hails from New Jersey. Would the allure of playing in Madison Square Garden override playing with a more talented roster in Chicago?

While Kyrie’s knee issues would be troublesome for most Bulls fans, it’s probably unlikely to sway the team’s front office. It’s not hard to remember that the Bulls have promised nearly $40 million  next season to two players with three ACL tears between them.

I don’t see Kyrie leaving Boston for Chicago at this juncture, but according to the Chicago Sun-Times, he and Jimmy Butler could try to team up somewhere in the East. If he’s unhappy in Boston for any reason, the Bulls would make as much sense as any team in the conference, especially if they could free up enough room to land a second star.
