The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of a rebuild. Can they add a big-name free agent in 2019 to speed up the process?

Since the Chicago Bulls began reshaping their roster, they’ve developed a youthful core of talented players. Lauri Markkanen headlines a group of skilled offensive talents who’ll be featured at the United Center this season.

After trading for Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn, drafting Wendell Carter Jr. and Chandler Hutchison, and signing Jabari Parker from the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls have been busy the last two summers. With Bobby Portis leading the bench, the youth movement looks to be trending upward.

Now that the front office has added what it believes to be a solid core of talent, the question now is this: What is the next move for the Chicago Bulls to move closer to bringing another championship home?

It’s the offseason, but if you follow the NBA at all, you know this league never sleeps. The NBA might be the only league where the offseason is as entertaining as the regular season. The Bulls have been in the midst of the summertime drama the last three summers: 2016’s trade of Derrick Rose and signing of Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo, last summer’s Jimmy Butler trade and this year’s signing of hometown hero Jabari Parker.

Can Chicago make it four straight summers of fun in 2019?

This team needs what every team needs: a bona fide star. Not just a group of good players, but a true star than can lead them to the NBA Finals. As good as Markkanen should be in the future, he’s not that player yet. Is there one out there willing to team up with this roster in Chicago?

Next summer, the Bulls should have cap space available for at least one major free agent signing. Summertime is for dreaming, so lets look at three potential free agents who could make Chicago home in 2019 NBA free agency.
