3. Improve his 3-point shot

The sooner Troy Brown becomes a better shooter from the 3-point line, the more playing time he’ll get. Brown joins a Washington Wizards squad that ranked fourth in the NBA in 3-point field goal percentage (37.5 percent). Unfortunately for Brown, he shot 29.1 percent from behind the arc as a freshman at Oregon. He shot with volume while he was a member of the Oregon Ducks to the tune of 44.4 percent from the field, but he struggled from 3-point land.

His biggest downfall is certainly is his inability to spread the floor. During Summer League in Las Vegas, he shot 3-for-19 (15.8 percent) from 3-point range. He didn’t hesitate to show off his aggressiveness on the offensive end, but so far, he’s shown to be a ball-dominant scorer.

If Brown hopes to see the floor more than a little bit in 2018-19, he’ll need to work on his off-ball game. One good thing is he isn’t scared to crash the boards, which should help earn him some playing time.
