Thomas Robinson

Thomas Robinson represents past promise.

The consensus All-American at Kansas was a top-five pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. It didn’t take the Kings long to give up on him, though, trading him to the Houston Rockets before the end of his rookie season.

Robinson became a journeyman, suiting up for six teams over the course of five NBA seasons. He never managed to crack a double-digit scoring average, although he did showcase some potential in 22 games with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014-15, averaging 8.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in that brief stint.

In one of his last games in the NBA to date, he even snared his first career double-double.

Robinson didn’t spend the past season in the NBA, though. He instead took his talents to Russia, where he suited up for BC Khimki. He averaged 8.2 points per game over 20 contests, but only managed to start once.

Several teams in the NBA have expressed interest in Robinson this summer, according to Kennedy, including his hometown Washington Wizards.

Along with the 27-year-old’s untapped potential, there’s also a question as to whether or not he even fits in the current NBA landscape; Robinson has never hit a 3-point shot in his career.
