4. Dunk on a star

This may seem like a silly goal, but there’s a reason it’s listed as the fourth-most important gaol for the rook.

This is from the “minuses” section of The Ringer‘s scouting report on Allen:

"“Flat-footed perimeter defender who lacks lateral quickness and gets smoked by lesser players.”"

The Ringer does great work, and their draft guide is an excellent resource (still). With all due respect to the writers who worked on it, does this look like someone who’s flat footed?

Yeah, the dunk was in warmups, but that wasn’t the only time he dunked during Summer League action:

In article that Deseret News writer Eric Woodyard wrote, he reminded his readers that Allen isn’t just another pretty face:

"“Traditionally, white men can’t jump, right? At least according to the 1992 film starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. “But that’s not the case with Allen, who possesses a 40.5-inch max vertical leap.”"

Furthermore, Allen is playing with a chip on his shoulder. Some people still think he’s the dirty player he was at Duke. Expect him to try to uncork that insane vertical and pent-up anger on someone notable next season as he tries to make a name for himself.
