2. Bulls get another young, athletic player

Two seasons ago, general manager Gar Forman stated that the Bulls wanted to get younger and more athletic prior to the 2016 NBA Draft. As most fans recall, that was the offseason in which the team signed veterans Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo.

While both players have shown the ability to contribute in the later stages of their respective careers, neither acquisition was the definition of younger and more athletic.

However, the addition of Parker is an entirely different story altogether. Both Parker and LaVine are just 23 years old. Starting point guard Kris Dunn is 24. Lauri Markkanen is 21 and should the Bulls choose to start their first round draft pick Wendell Carter Jr. – who’s all of 19 years old — the average age of this group of players would be 22.

This certainly fulfills the younger aspect of that statement. In terms of athleticism, despite two ACL surgeries, Parker has shown that he is still a highlight reel waiting to happen in the open court.

As is the case with integrating a new player, the transition may not be a seamless one. This will especially hold true from a defensive standpoint. At the same time, the Bulls will be adding a proven scorer who has a decent mid-range game and can attack the rim with the best of them.
