Indiana Pacers: How will Tyreke Evans fit in next year?
How he fits
The addition of Tyreke Evans does more than fill the void left by Lance Stephenson. He brings both scoring and playmaking ability to the Pacers’ rotation and he has the potential to be a Sixth Man of the Year candidate by season’s end.
His production could drop, but only by a small margin if all goes according to plan. Indiana’s bench ranked 22nd in the NBA in points per game (32.8) and 18th in assists per game (7.9) last season, two categories Evans should contribute greatly to in 2018-19.
Last year, especially in the postseason, it seemed like the Pacers were missing something in the backcourt alongside Oladipo. Evans can create his own shot and isn’t shy about getting others involved either. He will serve as a huge asset in the Pacers’ hopeful run through the East.
Head coach Nate McMillan and company won’t have to worry about LeBron James in the East, making it anybody’s conference to win. So far, Indiana has made some good moves to become a contender.
