1. Dante Cunningham

Dante Cunningham is no career marksman. However, he has developed his long distance shooting more in recent seasons. After making only three 3-point attempts in his first six seasons, he has become a serviceable threat from distance. On his career-high 181 attempts in 2016-17, he shot a career-best 39.2 percent. He has the ability to be a good threat from outside, which would free up space for Griffin, Drummond and Jackson.

The addition of Cunningham would give the bench flexibility, with his ability to play the 3 and 4. Cunningham also represents an improvement over a Pistons wing from last season in James Ennis. He is more of a 3-point threat, and he’s a better defender in terms of DRPM. Cunningham has experience guarding multiple positions, which would allow the team to experiment with its lineup combinations in the game.

Although a bit undersized for a true power forward, Cunningham certainly fits the mold of a stretch-4. He would slot in as the team’s best shooting big man off the bench. Cunningham shouldn’t require more than the veteran’s minimum. However, with the team’s MLE still available, they should have no trouble signing him if needed.
