Detroit Pistons: 3 reasons to be excited for 2018-19 season
The Detroit Pistons head into 2018-19 with a new optimism. Dwane Casey is here to usher in a new era, and there are many reasons for fans to be excited.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a near constant downward spiral since winning the 2003-04 Finals. They lost the following Finals, then three straight conference finals and a first round exit. The team has made one playoff appearance since, where they were eliminated in four games. However, their fortunes are about to change.
The team has added a bright new head coach in Dwane Casey. Their trade deadline addition of Blake Griffin gave them another legitimate star to pair with Andre Drummond. Luke Kennard and Reggie Bullock showed flashes last season that set the foundation for bright futures. This team may not compete for a title this year, but it should be an improvement over last year.
Pistons fans have been looking for the light at the end of the tunnel with these years of struggle. The goal for this season is going to be to develop their young talents, while further expanding their established ones. They need to determine who to keep around for the long haul and who is expendable.
2018-19 represents the start of a new era. Although the fans may not reasonably expect a title this season, there is still a lot to be excited about. Without further delay, let’s get into those reasons.
