3. Experience

For an NBA team, there has to be a young base of talent that is ready to rise. If you can get youth with experience, that is always good too.

Kevin Hervey was a four-year player in college and he is coming into a rookie year where he will be older than last year’s first round pick, Terrance Ferguson. Ferguson is 20, while Hervey is already 21.

Hervey is still young though, and that experience can help him get playing time. He has played 115 college games, which is 115 more than Ferguson had before coming into the NBA.

Hervey showed how his experience can make him competitive at the NBA level at the draft combine. Hervey scored 21 points, four rebounds and had two assists. Dominating against competition that was drafted higher than him shows that his experience gives him a competitive advantage.

Hervey has had a lot of playing experience and he was the No. 1 option on his team for three years. He brings more of a winning mentality in such a young body that the Thunder may have to play him sooner than later.
