No. 32: Jevon Carter, West Virginia

Grit-N-Grind has a new face for the Memphis Grizzlies and that’s a good thing if your name is point guard Jevon Carter. Carter was taken as the second pick of the second round by the Grizzlies, giving them a solid four-year starter with plenty of defensive experience.

He finished his final collegiate season as a back-to-back Naismith Defensive Player of the Year winner, averaging 17.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game this past season at West Virginia.

Carter’s full-court style of defensive pressure proved to be a difficult task for opponents to bear. It may translate a little differently in the NBA, but he’ll have one of the top point guards to learn from during the process in Mike Conley.

Seeing as MIke Conley will be returning from injury in 2018-19, Carter is a good insurance policy to have off the bench. He’s deliberate and unselfish on offense, looking to make the right play at all times.

With that being said, he’s probably a lock to make the final roster given his body of work. The backcourt rotation is a bit crowded, but Carter should shine with his work ethic.
