No. 4: Jaren Jackson Jr., Michigan State

Jaren Jackson Jr. already has an NBA background in his history, so it didn’t surprise many in his camp when he was selected fourth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies. He is the son of former NBA veteran Jaren Jackson, a player who spent most of his time as a member of the San Antonio Spurs.

Now it’s the younger Jackson’s turn to find stardom. The former Michigan State Spartans big man put together a solid freshman campaign in 2017-18, elevating his stock as a top five pick un the process.

Jackson averaged 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.1 assists per game as a full-time starter for the Spartans last season. His defensive paint presence at 6’11” is something that has scouts salivating at the moment, and for good reason.

He produced at least one block in all but five games as a freshman while at Michigan State. He put up a career-high eight rejections against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on the road back on Dec. 5.

Jackson is a young and athletic big with a knack for the rim on offense and knack for blocks on defense. He should pair up nicely in the frontcourt with Marc Gasol to give the Grizzlies a new-look 1-2 punch.
