Los Angeles Clippers

  • No. 11: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kentucky (via Charlotte Hornets)
  • No. 13: Jerome Robinson, Boston College

It was a bit of a mixed bag for the Los Angeles Clippers on draft night. On the one hand, they got their guy at No. 11 in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. On the other hand, they had to sacrifice two future second-rounders in order to move up one spot to get him.

On the other other hand, SGA could be one of the best point guards in this draft class and addresses a position of need with Patrick Beverley being on a non-guaranteed deal and Milos Teodosic possibly on the way out.

Gilgeous-Alexander has great size for his position at 6’6″ with a 7’0″ wingspan, he’s a well-rounded player on both ends and he’s the Clippers’ point guard of the future now.

On the other, other other hand, the Clips jumped the gun with late riser Jerome Robinson, taking him at No. 13. He can shoot the 3-ball well enough and averaged 20.8 points per game at BC last year, but this definitely feels like a reach. Between that and giving up two second-rounders to move up one spot, the Clippers have to be docked a few points even after landing SGA.

Grade: B-
