Could Kevin Durant, LeBron James team up in L.A.?

Let me preface this by saying that this is more speculation than anything else. However, one tapped-in Lakers writer seems to believe it’s not out of the question for Kevin Durant and LeBron James to team up in Los Angeles this offseason.

Bleacher Report‘s Eric Pincus recently made a round-about argument that, despite the long odds, we can’t completely count out Durant signing with the Lakers.

"“What would Durant’s response be if LeBron James called him up to say, ‘Join me in Los Angeles with the Lakers?’ Would it be an immediate ‘no,’ or would the All-Star forward have to consider the possibility?”"

As Pincus also points out, Durant told USA Today‘s Sam Amick that “anything can happen.” Heck, not many folks took it seriously when he bailed on the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. Is it really beyond the realm of possibility for Durant to call it a wrap on his career in the Bay Area and accept a new challenge in Hollywood?

We all know James can be a persuasive presence among fellow players. If Pincus’ hypothetical discussion were to take place, you have to imagine Durant would at least entertain the idea. He’s won his rings with the Warriors. Is it time for him to join the NBA’s other top talent in a market that’ll ensure their great, great grandkids never have to work a day in their lives?

It seems asinine, but crazy is a common occurrence in the NBA. Durant has firsthand experience of this.
