Pro No. 1: He’s the best talent available

When it comes to the NBA Draft, there are traditionally two schools of thought.

The first is to fill out all positional needs, which could at times mean taking a less talented player over someone whose skills and position are already accounted for on the roster.

Other general managers prefer to simply take the most talented prospect available and worry about fit later. After all, talent is what wins in the NBA.

With Ayton off the board, Doncic is the clear-cut best player available for the Kings to select.

Prospects such as Marvin Bagley III and Jaren Jackson Jr. have their upside, but after dominating the EuroLeague at the tender age of 19, Doncic’s potential has proven to be significantly higher than anyone else in his class.

The Kings aren’t a team just one piece away from making a playoff push. They need talent that can play at a high level on a consistent basis for the foreseeable future.

One could argue there are better fits for Sacramento, but it’s hard to make the case that any are more talented than Doncic.
