Weaknesses

As a whole, there aren’t many weaknesses to Brown’s game. He plays defense, he can score, he rebounds well and he plays hard every night. However, he could improve on his playmaking and consistency.

It’s not uncommon for a player of Brown’s position to fail to tally up assist numbers like some of the greats or the guards in this league. In Brown’s case though, he could find more ways to get others involved.

There are a lot of times where we sit there questioning some of his shot selection, with a lot of those ill-advised looks coming in the playoffs when the Celtics needed points the most. You can’t expect your 21-year-old budding star to having the best shot selection all the time, however. That comes with experience.

Consistency is another area of need for Brown. Again, it’s hard to find consistency from such a young player, but if there’s one thing that he needs to get better at, it’s staying consistent.

For example, in the month of January, he saw points scored in games like: 14, 11, 4, 21, 16, 12, 17, 9, 9, 20, 9, 14. You never know what night you’re going to get. There are other stretches where he scores 30-plus points and followed it up with something under 10.

It’s the little things, but staying consistent is important for Brown.
