Weaknesses

If there is something that Jones needs to work on, it’s his offensive game. He’s not the best offensive player, but it’s kind of hard to be an offensive dynamo when you’re undersized and not the most athletic guy on the court.

At just 6’2″ and 184 pounds, Jones struggles to face up against some of the league’s bigger guards. He did pretty well from the field, shooting 45.7 percent. One thing is that he struggled shooting from distance. He only shot 34.9 percent from the field and was very inconsistent throughout the season:

  • October: 16.7 percent
  • November: 40.0 percent
  • December: 46.7 percent
  • January: 30.3 percent
  • February: 35.3 percent
  • March: 25.0 percent
  • April: 41.2 percent

Jones really experienced a wide variety of shooting percentages. He had one month under 20 percent, some in the 20s and then the rest were a mixture of 30s and 40s.

Shooting consistently would be nice to have next season. His offense didn’t carry over in the playoffs like you’d hope either. He only shot 28.6 percent from the field and zero percent from 3. He only attempted two 3s in that first round series, but the fact that his percentages from anywhere on the court were so low is cause for concern.
