Los Angeles Lakers: 5 veterans to target in 2018 NBA free agency
By Dan Lovi
5. Trevor Booker, PF — Indiana Pacers
Trevor Booker spent his first four years in the league with the Washington Wizards, establishing himself as an undersized but bruising power forward.
Booker has since gone on to play for four different teams in five seasons, culminating in the rare feat of suiting up for three different teams this past year. He was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers in December, only to be waived less than three months later. Booker signed with the Indiana Pacers for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.
To begin the season, Booker averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 18 games for the Nets, starting six of them. His numbers dipped after he was traded to Philly and once in Indiana, Booker averaged 5.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17 games.
The Lakers have many focuses for this offseason, but adding frontcourt depth has to be a main priority. Booker is an established rebounder, low-post defender and can score when called upon. The Lakers need a player like him who can battle in the paint.
Booker has only made it to the postseason twice, including this past season. Though the Lakers have missed the playoffs the last five years, they are on the rise and could be a serious playoff contender next season. Booker could be an integral part of bringing the Lakers back to the playoffs.
