4. Hamidou Diallo, SG — Kentucky

This high-motor player with loads athleticism would be a great player for the Pacers to draft if he is still available for the 50th pick.

Despite his struggles in his first season as a Kentucky Wildcat, averaging a pedestrian 10 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, he still had the benefit of two years in Kentucky’s gym, learning in what is a breeding ground for well-polished NBA products.

The Pacers thrived this year because their players are almost exclusively mature (with the exception of Lance Stephenson), and they possess the respect and professionalism needed to play their role in almost any situation.

This model worked really well for them this season, and although Diallo is young, he could learn from and thrive in this environment as a bouncy wing to keep the energy coming off the bench. He also has an unreal 7’0″ foot wingspan, and at just 19 years old, he could even grow and turn into an uptempo small forward later in his career.

The truth is that Diallo just can’t shoot, and although he could work on that, for now, it is hard to justify him being taken in the first round, or even close to that point. There is a chance he is available at the 50th pick, and if the Pacers want to improve upon their already strong defensive culture, they could do much worse.
