San Antonio Spurs: 5 options for pick No. 49 in 2018 NBA Draft
1. Justin Jackson, SF/PF — Maryland
In many ways, Justin Jackson is the ideal player for the Spurs with this pick. If he is available when the time comes, it’s probably a no-brainer. He is long and athletic and can guard multiple positions. He has shown he has good basketball instincts and a strong commitment on the defensive end. For these reasons, it just feels right that he get drafted by San Antonio.
The Canadian is 21 years old with a 7′ 3” wingspan. He looks strong enough to play the center position for a small-ball lineup. His ability to rack up steals and blocks makes him a James Johnson-type player with a ton of upside.
There is one big thing that needs to be talked about when it comes to Jackson though, and that is his injury history. In his sophomore year at Maryland, he went down with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. As a consequence, he had to end his season early.
After coming back, his shooting averages dipped dramatically over the next 10 or so games. Is this due to rust, or do we have another Markelle Fultz situation on our hands here?

We all know how tricky shoulder injuries can be. Drafting Jackson comes with some risk. However, if he can stay healthy, he seems like an ideal young role player for the Spurs.
