4. Melvin Frazier, SF — Tulane

Melvin Frazier is someone that scouts have liked more and more as the season went on. Frazier looks the part, but as any prospect that isn’t a lock for the lottery, there are some areas that need improvement.

Frazier is a freak athlete that has great size at 6’6” and 200 pounds. That kind of build has teams salivating as he has the body to defend multiple positions. He averaged 2.2 steals per game last season for the Green Wave, averaging 1.6 steals per game in his collegiate career.

Frazier passes the eye test with flying colors. He plays above the rim, but his offensive skill-set needs refinement. He took a step forward with his 3-point shot this past season, knocking down 38.5 percent of his 3-point attempts after making 27.2 percent his first two seasons.

His free throw shooting did improve every season, which is a good sign that it is something he is at least working on. Frazier’s stats improved across the board as a junior, as he increased his efficiency offensively.

That kind of improvement is something NBA teams like to see. If he can continue developing his jump shot, he should have no problem carving out a role at the next level. His defensive potential alone will get him looks. If the jump shot develops along with it, a team could be getting a steal.
