Promise or no promise, the Los Angeles Lakers must be wary of selecting raw big man Mitchell Robinson with their first round pick during the 2018 NBA Draft.

Right now, the Los Angeles Lakers are busy making the rounds as they prepare for the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft. June 21 will be here before you know it, and Magic Johnson wants to be sure his staff has done all of their homework to ensure another excellent incoming class.

One name in particular has stood out among the rest as a legitimate option at No. 25 overall: Mitchell Robinson.

Why? Well, this past weekend, NBADraft.net’s Aran Smith surfaced a rumor that the Lakers allegedly promised Robinson they would take him at No. 25. While Bleacher Report‘s Eric Pincus has since shot down that claim, it’s still a significant talking point among Los Angeles faithful.

Instead of highlighting all of the reasons he could hypothetically be a great NBA player, I want to shed some light on what makes him a risky prospect. Trust me when I say it isn’t all rainbows and daisies with the 20-year-old center.
