Philadelphia 76ers: 5 options for pick No. 26 in 2018 NBA Draft
1. Gary Trent Jr., SG — Duke
Last but not least, we have the one-and-done from Duke, Gary Trent Jr. Trent is from Apple Valley where Tyus Jones and his brother Trae Jones attended school. He was once viewed as a lottery pick, but has now started to drop in the draft.
That’s what happens when you’re a part of a super deep draft. We saw how well Redick fit with the Sixers’ lineup, but what about Trent? He’s a better defender and although not as good from 3, he has the ability to become one of the better shooters in the league.
In his one year at Duke, he averaged 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game, all while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from 3 on 6.5 attempts a night. His field goal percentage is low, but shooting that well from distance is a good sign that it shouldn’t be an issue in the NBA.
One issue with him is that he’s not super explosive and lacks the ability to get others involved. He’s more of a scoring guard who is physical with his opponents. He has plenty of upside to fix his game, but from his one year we can already see he’ll be more of a high volume scorer.
If he can develop and polish his game to be more well-rounded, then the Sixers will have a nice addition to their roster. He’d be a great fit in the starting lineup because he can shoot the ball and play good enough defense.

He and Covington will be great floor-spacers for the rest of the team on the court. Trent would also be a lot cheaper than Redick. All five of these players would be great additions for this young Sixers team. With two picks in this year’s draft, they look primed to be even scarier next season.
