3. Jacob Evans, SG — Cincinnati

Jacob Evans fits the mold of the Celtics’ identity. He could become their next Smart if he’s no longer with the team next season. He has that ability at the next level — maybe not as extreme as Smart, but Evans plays similarly.

He’d be the perfect option to replace Smart if they were to let him go. He can come in and immediately make an impact for this team with his defense and ability to shoot the ball from 3. He’s essentially your prototypical 3-and-D type player.

His 3-point percentage did take a dip this season, but it’s nothing to be concerned about. Last season he shot 41.8 percent on 4.6 attempts per game. This season it was 37 percent on 4.5 attempts per game.

The percentage is a pretty big drop, but the numbers are not. It’s a matter of 0.3 shots missed per game. Evans should be able to come into the next level and at least be an average shooter or slightly above.

This season he averaged 1.0 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. His defense is there and he hounds opposing players. He also averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game overall.

Playing for the Cincinnati Bearcats, he doesn’t get as much recognition as some of the top-tier schools. Despite the Bearcats being one of the top teams in the country, Evans has flown under the radar.

He can be a perfect fit replacing any player the Celtics lose this offseason and he can become a perfect guy off the bench.
