4. Mikal Bridges

Once again, this pick of Mikal Bridges is under the impression the top three guards are off the board, but the wing from Villanova is as complete of a prospect you will find in the 2018 NBA Draft. The two-time national champion improved in all three seasons at Nova, topping out this year with 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

His scoring average is really impressive given Bridges’ efficiency from the field (51.4 percent), but his 43.5 percent from the 3-point line on 6.0 attempts per game is what has elevated his stock. This consistent jumper sets up his straight-line drive game and forces defenders to close out under control or watch him blow by you.

Bridges’ offensive improvements have been noted, but his defensive impact is what makes him an attractive two-way player. He can legitimately guard four positions effectively. His length (7’2” wingspan) and speed allows him to switch on the perimeter, and he could develop into a defensive anchor.

As for his fit with the Magic, his pedigree of winning and competitiveness would be a welcome jolt into a franchise lacking an identity. A trio of Bridges-Gordon-Isaac is a great foundation for a defense, and gives them floor-spacing on the other end. Mikal Bridges is not the flashiest prospect, but is a strong 3-and-D prospect that understands how to fit on a winning team.
