5. Mitchell Robinson

The Clippers could have a huge hole in the middle of their roster if DeAndre Jordan leaves in free agency. The only other center currently on the roster is Boban Marjanovic, as Montrezl Harrell is also a free agent. As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Clippers select a center in the 2018 NBA Draft. One option they could consider is Mitchell Robinson.

Robinson did not play collegiately this season. He committed to Western Kentucky but decided to forgo the season and work on his own. That makes Robinson a bit of an unknown, but there is a lot to like.

Robinson is a mountain of a man, standing seven feet tall and weighing 220 pounds. He is one of the most physically gifted prospects in this year’s draft class, possessing impressive length, athleticism and shot-blocking ability. That sounds a lot like what Jordan brought to the table for Los Angeles.

Like Jordan, he is limited offensively right now. He will have to develop some low-post moves and range, but the tools are there for him to make it happen.

Robinson would probably be considered a reach at this point. However, with two picks, the Clippers can afford to take a risk. The pre-draft process will be an important one for Robinson, as his stock could soar in the coming weeks if he performs well.
