4. David Blatt

Former NBA head coach David Blatt has been busy since coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2015-16. Since being fired midseason by the club, Blatt has gone on to have a successful coaching career in the European ranks. Blatt recently coached Turkish club Darussafaka, but now has his sights set back on coaching in the NBA.

He led Cleveland to an NBA Finals appearance in his first season given he had LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on his roster, but Blatt felt he never reached his full potential as a coach his first try in the league. Despite his 83-40 record, Blatt was let go in favor of Tyronn Lue in the end.

Since then, though, Blatt is looking to make a comeback to the NBA. He turned down an extension to remain a head coach overseas last summer. He’s already interviewed for the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching vacancy, as well as the New York Knicks opening. It won’t be long before he finds a job, so don’t be surprised if Detroit hires him.
