Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 takeaways from Game 3 vs. Raptors
By Simon Smith
3. Kyle Korver continues his terrific postseason
Despite being age 37, Kyle Korver has been a mainstay this postseason.
After starting just four games over the course of the regular season, and playing just four minutes in the Cavaliers’ opening playoff game against the Indiana Pacers, Korver has thrived having now started the past nine games in succession.
This continued in Game 3, with Korver’s elite long distance shooting proving invaluable. In nailing 4-of-6 attempts from 3-point range, Korver has now hit four or more 3-pointers on five occasions since being inserted into the starting lineup.
With James as the primary ball-handler, having the likes of Korver and J.R. Smith lurking in the shadows has been something the Raptors have been unable to overcome.
Such has been Korver’s importance to the Cavs this postseason, that his 17 field goal attempts in Game 1 of this series were the most he had attempted in a game since January 2007 when he was a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Placing second on the team by being a +11 while on the floor in Game 3, Korver’s importance to Cavaliers has never been higher. Put simply, the Cavaliers have looked like a different team with Korver playing big minutes, with his sheer presence on the perimeter putting a scare through opposing defenses.
