2. Build a more seasoned bench

A bench rotation is a really key part to a successful season, as we learned from the Toronto Raptors this season.

For Chicago, it’s also important to have a strong bench to keep the morale high through what could be another losing season, and to hopefully find a diamond in the rough. Countless times have veterans found new life in a uniform after being discarded by most other teams.

While the Bulls possess perhaps one of the best culture-building veterans in Robin Lopez, he will not be worth hanging onto as he is still owed $14.3 million next season. His contract, his skill-set and his demeanor make for an intriguing piece of trade bait.

While the Bulls are far from over the salary cap, they would be wise to pursue some of the young versatile swingmen who will be available via free agency, including Will Barton, Jabari Parker or Rodney Hood.

They also might want to pry the gritty center Kyle O’Quinn away from re-signing with the New York Knicks. Paying one of those guys means moving pieces like Robin Lopez or Omer Asik, especially if the Bulls move forward with Zach LaVine.
