2. Myles Turner‘s growth falling short

Myles Turner was pegged to be a breakout candidate before this season began. While that didn’t quite happen, nobody had much to complain about since the Pacers were winning so much.

However, as this series played out, it became more and more clear that Turner has some work to do on his game, and that this season wouldn’t progress much further until that problem is worked out.

Sadly, the third-year center had just eight points and three and four rebounds, respectively, in critical losses in Game 5 and 7 of this series. Offense aside, the rebounds were not nearly the production expected out of Turner for this Indiana Pacers team to thrive.

While is was a great run for Indiana, it’s sad how close they came to handing LeBron James one of the bigger playoff upsets of the decade without finishing the job. Turner did have some solid performances throughout the series, but just the same, he can shoulder some of the blame for the deflated end to the season.
