3. Mike Conley goes down with a season-ending injury

The Memphis Grizzlies were off to a great start with Mike Conley leading the way and then things fell apart. Conley went down with a heel injury on Nov. 13 and didn’t return for the Grizzlies in 2017-18.

It is Conley’s first significant injury outside of an Achilles heel issue he dealt with during the 2015-16 season. Even then, he played 56 games in that season. In 2017-18, Conley appeared in just 12 games for the Grizz.

In his short time on the court, he averaged 17.5 points, 4.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from 3-point range. His low shooting numbers could be what attributed to him being sidelined with an injury.

He was 2-for-12 (16.7 percent) and 2-for-7 (28.6 percent) from 3-point range with seven points in 33 minutes of play on Nov. 13 before hanging things up for the season. The good news is, he’s on track to be ready for training camp in 2018-19.
