2. The defense was on in Game 4

It was these seven turnovers that set the tone for the entire game. The Spurs were swarming the Warriors, not letting them get their good looks. Klay Thompson had to take one shot falling sideways off the court, such was the intensity of the perimeter defense. That shot did not even hit the ring, causing a shot clock violation.

The Spurs caused 16 turnovers on the night, scoring 21 points off turnovers. By comparison, the Warriors forced only eight turnovers from the Spurs. They were able to score 15 points off these turnovers.

However, the Spurs held the Warriors to 37 percent shooting from the field, which is the first time the Spurs have held them to less than 50 percent shooting for the series. Add to this the Warriors went 25 percent from deep. This was a masterclass of perimeter defense and how to beat the Warriors.

The problem is, when there is so much effort on the perimeter there is going to be some letdown somewhere. The Spurs were out rebounded by the Warriors 61-34. giving up 24 offensive rebounds on the night.

However, when a Warriors player got the rebound, the defense kicked in, not letting any easy points be scored. Draymond Green was able to collect eight offensive rebounds, but he was only able to score nine points on 4-of-14 shooting. These San Antonio Spurs know how to scramble.
