10. Dallas get its first victory of the regular season

The Dallas Mavericks had a rough start to the regular season, losing their first two games by a combined 11 points. They dropped two more games before getting their first victory of the season over the Memphis Grizzlies, 103-94, on Oct. 25.

Rookie Dennis Smith Jr. led the team in scoring with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and 3-of-6 shooting from the 3-point arc. It was a positive moment for center Nerlens Noel, who started the contest. He finished the game with eight points, five rebounds, a steal and a block. Noel generated a defensive rating of 94 in the contest in 20 minutes of play. It was one of the early bright spots in the year, but after that, he became rarely used.

Next to Noel and Smith, Dallas also got 15 points, six rebounds and three assists from Harrison Barnes and 16 points, four rebounds and two assists from Wesley Matthews. They were clicking on all cylinders offensively. Unfortunately, they went on to lose the following night against the Memphis Grizzlies, 96-91.
