3. Alex Abrines could be an X-factor in series

Alex Abrines is in his second year and has been another up-and-down player for the Thunder. However, he’s been able to get into a long, sustainable shooting streak and elevate his game. This is Abrines’ second time in the playoffs and he may be coming into form as a player that can be relied on to hit the 3-ball.

In Game 1 against the Jazz, Abrines was 3-of-5 from 3 and scored 11 points.

More from NBA Playoffs

With defenses looking Carmelo and George’s way during times like these, a player like Abrines could sneak up and hit some big time shots for the OKC Thunder.

In the playoffs the rotation gets shorter and the depth chart shrinks. The Thunder will need all the help that they can get from the little reinforcements that come from the bench.

Raymond Felton is the backup point guard, so his name will always be called. Jerami Grant has been the top scorer coming off the bench all season.

Abrines could be the third player that the Thunder rely on to provide quality minutes. Putting him out there with only Paul George could pay off because George with his slashing ability can draw the attention of the defense and that could lead to kick-outs for open 3s.

Alex Abrines with his 3-point shooting ability could be the energizer bunny for the Thunder in future games these playoffs.
