Houston Rockets: 3 takeaways from March
1. The 2017-18 Rockets are the best regular season team in franchise history
Despite currently having two championship banners hoisted high above the rafters of the Toyota Center, this year’s Rockets team has already cemented its legacy as the greatest regular season team in franchise history.
Just last week, the 2017-18 squad became the first team in Rockets franchise history to ever reach 60 wins in a win at home against the Atlanta Hawks.
"“It’s pretty cool to get 60 wins… it’s just a good feeling,” James Harden told the Associated Press following the game. “That means you’re doing something right, the chemistry is there, you’re sharing the ball, being unselfish and playing for each other.”"
Although many across the national realm might likely view Houston’s season as championship or bust, Rockets faithful across the city of Houston and beyond should seek to celebrate their most recent historical feats. A team that came into the season with questions about how their star-studded backcourt and new pieces would fit alongside one another has managed to live up to the hype and then some.
For the first time ever, the Rockets are heading into the NBA Playoffs with home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs. They stand only one game away from securing it for the entire duration of the postseason, as Houston has displayed a level of depth and firepower that has not been witnessed since the days of Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler — featuring arguably two of the game’s elite playmakers in Harden and Paul, alongside a dynamic shot-blocker and rim runner in Clint Capela, with several knockdown shooters who can manage to catch fire in a moment’s notice.

Now, all eyes will soon be on H-Town within the next couple of weeks, as the Rockets seek to get themselves prepared for the stretch run that lies ahead this coming April.
