March 9. Golden State Warriors

Whenever Lillard plays the Warriors, he always seems to have a good game. Nothing was different this time around.

He had 28 points, eight assists and three rebounds.

The Warriors were playing tough on Lillard by putting good defenders on him, double-teaming him and being physical with him on and off the ball. He had eight points and four assists in the first, seven points in the second, seven in the third and six in the fourth.

Dame was staying aggressive the entire game, and in a close fourth quarter, he hit two big 3-point shots. C.J. McCollum had the hot hand in this game. Lillard is a superstar who doesn’t mind giving the ball up to his teammates.

McCollum finished with 30 points, including 13 big points in the fourth quarter to help the Blazers pull out their ninth straight win. McCollum was able to stay hot and get more comfortable shots because the Warriors were doing everything they could to keep Lillard in check.

Damian Lillard’s presence on the floor is significant for Portland. That is something that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet for the Western Conference Player of the Week.
