3. Should the Wizards sign Derrick Rose or Ty Lawson?

The Washington Wizards are currently one of four teams in the NBA with two roster spots open.

Washington has reportedly shown interest in Derrick Rose as well as former NBA point guard Ty Lawson, according to recent reports. Rose has appeared in just 16 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in a career-low 19.3 minutes per game.

Lawson is currently a member of the Shandong Golden Stars in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he’s averaging 25.8 points, 6.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. He’s also shooting 63.5 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from 3-point range.

When considering rental options, Rose (29) and Lawson (30) are both on different sides of their careers. While Rose seems to be on the backend of his career, Lawson looks to be on a resurgence of sorts.

The Wizards have Tim Frazier and Tomas Satoransky at point guard and also rookie Devin Robinson, who they can sneak into games for all intents and purposes as he’s on a two-way contract. Lawson wouldn’t be a bad signing, but one worth exploring considering the injuries the team is dealing with. He has ties to the Maryland area as he’s a native of Clinton.
