Blake Griffin is a proven All-Star

When he’s healthy, Griffin’s skill on the basketball court can’t be denied. He’s known for his high-flying dunks both in the game and during the All-Star Dunk contest.

Griffin is a five-time All-Star and second all-time on the Clippers’ scoring list.

The Pistons are two games of playoff position in the East, while the Clippers are half a game out of the 8-seed in the West. Detroit seems determined to change up the roster in an effort to make a playoff run this season.

LeBron James spoke about Blake Griffin and the trade during shootaround hours before the Tuesday night’s game against the Pistons.

"“He spent his last nine years there,” James said Tuesday, hours before the Cavs play the Pistons. “When a player gets traded, it’s ‘they was doing what’s best for the franchise,'” he said. “But when a player decides to leave, it’s, ‘He’s not loyal. He’s a snake. He’s not committed.’ It’s just, that’s the narrative of how it goes. So I’m definitely [aware]. I know that firsthand.”"

Per NBA.com, Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue also discussed the trade with reporters.

"“Of course Blake can absolutely help this team. You have an All-Star, a perennial All-Star, great passer, can push it in transition, can post. Improved his jump shot, so, um, it was definitely a good trade for Detroit.”"

Griffin did not play against the Cavs but is expected to be in the lineup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. Griffin should help the Pistons improve after snapping their recent eight-game losing skid.
