2. Beal was snubbed last season for Carmelo Anthony

Now, points per game is just one category in the NBA, but Bradley Beal ranks 15th in the league in scoring, just one spot behind Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid. Embiid was named as a starter for the East squad after playing just 63 career games.

Beal has excelled in 370 career regular season games and has yet to get a nod as an All-Star. Last season, he was arguably snubbed for then-New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony for a spot on the East squad. Anthony replaced Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, who missed the game with an injury.

Beal declined to participate in the 3-Point Contest at last year’s All-Star festivities as a result of the snub. To be honest, it could go down this year in a similar fashion if folks choose a guy like Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, a player who also has a chance to make the East squad as a reserve.
