Outlook for the second half

Indiana is on pace to exceed their projected regular season win total by double digits, but the club still has some glaring issues to address.

If the Pacers can’t find a way to improve in the areas of rebounding and defense, they are likely to end the season around the .500 mark and probably end up as a lower playoff seed.

With the trade deadline coming up in a few weeks, they could look to acquire a big who can play defense and rebound at a high level, but barring a savvy trade, they may have to look for improved execution from within.

Many pundits feel that the Indiana Pacers are the surprise team in the NBA this season. However, now that they’ve established that they are a legitimate contender for a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, they should continue to seek higher ground and see just how far they can go, with defense and rebounding being the keys.
