1. Jan. 13 @ Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are another opponent the Washington Wizards just can’t seem to shake this season. Brooklyn is 2-0 against Washington in 2017-18, a surprise when taking into account its 15-23 record. The Nets haven’t let that stop them from overcoming the odds, though, with a recent victory coming on Dec. 22.

They got the last laugh with a 119-84 victory in one of the Wizards’ worst performances of the season. Their leading scorer in the game was Kelly Oubre Jr., who finished with 13 points. Washington’s 84 points were the second-lowest scoring output of the season. Their worst scoring output of 69 points came against the Utah Jazz back on Dec. 4.

Washington is 10-10 so far this season against opponents with sub-.500 records. The Wizards are 11-6 against teams with winning records. They need to start beating teams they’re supposed to beat if they hope to keep up with top teams in the East.

Going winless all season against the Nets wouldn’t be good for their psyche. Brooklyn is the first must-win game on the Washington Wizards’ radar for the month of January.
