Stop believing the hype

Stan Van Gundy discussed his concerns with the early season praise the Detroit Pistons have received.

"“It’s 82 games and handling success and adversity and being able to be consistent from night to night. Everybody is talking about how good we are – and that scares the (expletive) out of me. Are we mature enough to handle that? “We’ve been a team that’s been fighting to win games and get respect,” Van Gundy said. “And now, everybody starts telling you that you’re good. If we starting believing that (expletive), then we won’t be.”"

The Pistons need to get back to what worked for them at the beginning of the season. They need to forget about the hype and just play team ball. If they can manage that, the accolades, All-Star selections and wins will take care of themselves.

Somehow the Pistons have managed to stay in second place in the Eastern Conference despite losing 3 of their last four games. The Pistons head back to the wild West on Friday to play the Oklahoma City Thunder and their Big Three.
