Turnovers

Well-executed plays with strategic pick-and-rolls — not rushed, just simply designed to perfection. Pick-and-rolls turning into swing passes to wing players for 3-pointers. That’s what was expected from a core and deep bench like this.

This team individually has the talent for these plays. Dragic is averaging 19.9 points and 4.6 assists per game. He has great court vision and is coming off an amazing run at EuroBasket 2017. He can lead this team.

Reality:

So many turnovers. It’s exhausting. Miami ranks 28th in the assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.21 and commits the sixth-most turnovers per game in the league. Last game alone, they totaled 17 turnovers leading to 26 opponent points.

That’s becoming the norm for this Heat team. They sometimes start off strong and limit their turnovers to produce a well-rounded first quarter. Then they lose composure and cannot keep poised as they slowly let it slip within their grasp.

For every short 8-10 point run they have, their opponents quickly answer with a 12- or 15-point run with half of it coming as a result of their turnovers. This problem is haunting them.
