The Washington Wizards used a big first half against a not-so-good Sacramento Kings squad to cruise to victory but in their previous two contests, it was a different story.

The Wizards led the Los Angeles Lakers 79-69 last Wednesday before squandering the lead late in the game. They were outscored 23-13 in the fourth quarter by the Lakers. Their 13 points in the fourth is a season-low for them so far. Los Angeles went on to force overtime and ended up winning in the end, 102-99.

Washington shot 5-of-23 from the field and went 0-for-8 from 3-point range as a team in the fourth against Los Angeles. Porter went the whole quarter without a shot attempt.

It was a similar outcome against the Golden State Warriors Friday night as well. Aside from the fisticuffs between Draymond Green and Bradley Beal that drew ejections in the second quarter, the Wizards still had a strong offensive game — at least until the fourth quarter arrived.

Washington held a 97-87 lead against the Warriors before they were outscored 33-20 in the final quarter, losing 120-117 in the end. This time, Kelly Oubre Jr. went without a shot attempt in the game.

John Wall went without a made field goal in the fourth on 0-for-5 shooting against the Lakers and 2-for-7 in the fourth quarter against the Warriors. He had a total of three assists between the two games as well. Wall has to start trusting his teammates late in games, particularly when his shot isn’t falling.

Grade: B-
