The Oklahoma City Thunder secured a 105-84 victory over the New York Knicks to open the season. Here are three takeaways from their season opener.

The Oklahoma City Thunder started the 2017-18 season off strong with a seemingly easy victory over the New York Knicks. Carmelo Anthony and Paul George combined for 50 points in their Thunder debuts while Russell Westbrook picked up where he left off last season, finishing with the 80th triple-double of his career.

Westbrook ended the game with 21 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds in the 104-85 victory. Things were close in the early going before the Thunder found their mojo on offense. They led by as many as 23 points with George finishing with a team-high 28 points in the route.

The Thunder looked like a well-oiled machine on offense and solid on defense with their new Big Three. Westbrook did well at the point while George made six 3-pointers and Anthony made three.

They also got a lot of energy out of Alex Abrines and Jerami Grant off the bench. Abrines had three points, three assists and a rebound in 24 minutes. Grant finished with five points, three rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.

Their quest to be the best team in the West begins now. Here are three takeaways from their 2017-18 season opener.
