3. Tobias Harris came to play

The Pistons’ spent the day putting on a show for the fans who came out to help the Detroit Pistons officially open the Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit.

Tobias Harris continued the show on the hardwood. Harris had a career night in the Pistons’ season opener against the Hornets.

His offensive output during the first quarter was so impressive Rod Beard of the Detroit News used a fiery GIF on Twitter to commemorate Harris’ performance.

All the preseason previews focused on what Andre Drummond would do at the line, or how Avery Bradley would fit into the lineup. Of course, the previews centered on what Reggie Jackson would do and whether or not he could lead the team back to the playoffs. The one person overlooked in all the preseason hype was Harris.

After last night’s performance of 27 points, 10 rebounds and three assists on 11-of-18 shooting, overlooking Harris is not a mistake many will make again.

According to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press, Harris was asked about season goals after his historic night in Detroit.

"“As a player, obviously that’s one of my goals as a player,” Harris said. “You got to play the game to be one of the best players you can be and I feel that as a player, I have dreams and aspirations in hopefully getting to that point.”"

Harris was the Pistons’ Player of the Game on a night when anyone in the lineup could’ve gone home with the honor. If the Pistons’ can string more nights together like this, the All-Star game invites and playoffs won’t be far away.

Harris did the stinging against the Hornets last night. Here’s hoping it will continue for the next 81 games.
